Can wearing high heels really get you raped?

I'm sad to critise Caitlin Moran, as I am a massive fan. She's a feminist, but without being all Germaine Greer about it......... until now.

'Yes. It’s on that basis that I don’t wear high heels – other than I can’t walk in them – because when I’m lying in bed at night with my husband, I know there’s a woman coming who I could rape and murder, because I can hear her coming up the street in high heels, clack-clack -clack. And I can hear she’s on her own, I can hear what speed she’s coming at, I could plan where to stand to grab her or an ambush. And every time I hear her I think, “Fuck, you’re just alerting every fucking nutter to where you are now. And [that it’s a concern] that’s not right.

Society should be different. But while we’re waiting for society to change, there’s just certain things you have to do. But again the thing is, so many things you could do instead are predicated on having money. She could come out of a nightclub and get into a taxi, that would be the right thing to do.

No billionaire heiresses are ever abducted and raped and murdered, because they are just being put into a taxi or have their driver waiting around a corner for them. Again, it’s not just a feminist thing, it’s a class thing. It’s a money thing. It’s a problem of capitalist society. That’s why I think often feminism links to Marxism and socialism, I don’t just want to help one bunch of people, I want to help everyone.'

Firstly, wearing high heels does not get you raped. I'm sure she has a lot of girlfriends that wear high heels, and I'm pretty sure when she goes out with them she's thinking, 'Because you're wearing them heels you're putting me at a greater risk of being raped.'

No, I'm sure she doesn't. I like to think of myself as a feminist, and as one I believe women should be able to wear what they want to, including heels, and short skirts. If you've got it flaunt it!

Now I don't know about you, but I have heard of women who are extremely well off being raped, Why does she think money has got anything to do with a man wanting his way with a woman? What has class got anything to do with it? When did you last hear a rapist say in court 'I raped her because she is working class?' You don't becuase they don't care for your background, your heritage, your wealth.

In 1999 a young woman, daughter of a millionaire,  21 years old when she was raped, by a 26 year old Zoltan Espejel. Sadly she died two days later after having suffered a brain hemorrhage.

She came out of a night club in Brixton, believe it or not Caitlin but posh people go there too.

So you can't say the wealthy don't get raped, you can't say women in heels get raped, by the time the young girl left the club, she had probably removed her shoes and put some flats on, therefore no noise.

It isn't being Marxist, or Socialist, it is sadly one of the things in life that will never go away. There will always be that man, who may have had one too many stopped thinking logically, or man with mental issues, or some digusting bloke who wants something he can't get.

Wearing heels is feminism, don't tell us not to wear them just because you can't.

Labour's Problem

Watching the conferences, and how Mr Clegg, Mr Miliband and Mr Cameron have tried to sweet talk the country into believing them, I see a massive problem for Labour.

Firstly, Mr Miliband himself. To me, and quite a few of you out there, he has no character, charisma or charm.

He's won a handful of PMQ's, which is appalling as he has had many an open goal, and missed, thank god he's not in the England squad!

He doesn't seem to ask the questions that we, the public, want answering, David Cameron always manages to squeeze out of these difficult questions without Labour's front bench even noticing, which quite frankly, is embarrassing to watch!

Secondly, trying to rid themselves of the stigma that New Labour left behind.

Trying to get rid of the past is never an easy task for anyone, however why has Ed kept quite a lot of the old cabinet?

Harriet Harman, Ed Balls, Yvette Cooper, Stephen Twigg, Maria and Angela Eagle, Andy Burnham, the list goes on.

How on earth can you convince the british public, that you've learnt your lesson on spending, you want a fresh view on policies, and ideas?

To me, the Shadow cabinet looks old, used and disgarded, which is a shame because I am sure there are Labour MP's who actually might know what they are talking about.

If you have read my blogs before, you will gather I am not a Labour supporter, however there are a few MPs I do have a soft spot for. Stephen Rotherham for one, is a proud scouser, and proud of Liverpool, and it's nice to see an MP who actually fights for his constituency.

Dennis Skinner, although I think he talks a lot of crap, he is passionate for the Labour Party, and wants the best for not only his constituency, but the country as a whole, whether I agree with him or not is a different matter. I'm acutally quite sad he's retiring, he always puts on a show when he asks a question.

Last but not least, policies, where are the Labour Party's policies?

I haven't heard one yet, only about One Nation.

Well how will they set about getting 'One Nation'? What will they put in place, and how quickly, who will benefit?

Havent got a clue as they haven't got the policies, and two years into the role, surely Mr Miliband and his 'crew' have got some by now? No? Better crack on then!

Nick Clegg, and that 'f***king pleb' Andrew Mitchell

Well what a bummer it has been for the government this week.

Firstly Nick Clegg's apology, to the remaining Lib Dem members, was slightly embarrassing to watch, and lets face it, fake. And as for the video remix, just brilliant.

He was just trying to win some voters back, and I can't blame him, to have UKIP beat you in opinion polls isn't something to be proud of!

However, if he really wanted to win some voters back, surely he should have apologised to the students, and well the whole country, as it was his party who signed the pledge and promised not to rase tuition fees.

Not only that, Nick Clegg also has to watch out for Vince Cable! Pratically letting Clegg take the blame for signing pledge!  Clever move for the man who wants to become next Lib Dem leader.

And now Andrew Mitchell has made the governments work harder to gain peoples trust by calling the police 'f***ing plebs'.

Surely politicains have learnt by now that saying something bad about anyone will get out? Surely politicains have learnt that, once they are in office, they really don't have a leg to stand on when it comes to the police?

He will either have to do one almightly apology, and have it remixed,  and released for charity, or just get sacked.

When will our politicains learn that every bad word they say against any of us, will go down like a lead balloon, and destroy them?

Surely only a 'f***ing pleb' would be as stupid as to not know this by now.......

Anders Behring Breivik

Today, Anders Breivik has been deemed sane, and received his sentence of 21 years in jail, for killing 77 innocent people in Norway.

Norway's maximum sentencing for murder is 21 years, so I am glad that he has been given the maximum sentence, and Norway is an extremely proud country and has shown the world just how dignified they are, under such awful circumstances!

However, if Anders behaves himself in prison, he should be out in just ten years time! I am absolutely shocked, and appalled that he is even being given the chance of early release.

This man not only murdered 77 innocent people because he disagrees on their political stance, but majority of these killings were teenagers.

I really think he should have been given 21 years, for each person he killed, which adds up to 1,617 years, Obviously he would never serve that long, but he would at least rot in prison where he belongs, away from society, and all the evil, and damage he can cause.

He has been deemed sane, which he is, he was in a very clear mind, and knew exactly what he was going to do.

So when he leaves prison in ten years, if inmates haven't got to him first, he would be a free man again, having served a small sentence, unlike the family's of the victims who are serving a lifetime sentence, and the people who survived his massacre.

They deserve better than 21 years, maybe 10 on good behaviour.

I do understand that the people of Norway have never had such a massacre in their country before, therefore sentences aren't that big, but this is a special case, and I truly believes it deserves special sentencing.

This man should rot in prison, and never be allowed to call himself a free man!

The weakest government and opposition ever?

After watching Prime Minister's Questions yesterday, and comparing it to the PMQ's that William Hague took for David Cameron while he was attending the G20 summit in Mexico, I am ashamed of both sides.

Harriet Harman dramatically lost to William Hague during that PMQ's. Her questions were weak, and her comebacks even more so. Where as Hague found his feet, and completely destroyed the opposition, hardly a peep came from the Labour back benches.

This week was back to normal, Dave vs Ed. The two most pathetic, boring, non charismatic, leaders this country has had for a long while.

While people might not like Thatcher, Blair, and other politicians, at least they had balls, (I know Ed M has Balls buts its not the same!) to stand up for what they thought was best for the country.

Cameron keeps u-turning, Miliband just wants to have a go at pasty tax, and both of them haven't got, if any, decent policies that the country can whole heartily agree on!

To the rest of the world, it must be quite a circus to watch, for us Brits having to live with them, it's just plain embarrassment!

Republicans

Ever since the Royal Wedding last year, I've read some tweets that have given me a different view on republicans. They don't really have a decent argument to get rid of them, other than the fact they find it old fashioned, or expensive. (President Obama has actually cost the American people more than what the royal wedding cost us)

I myself am a monarchist, I like them, I think they at times they can do more for political situations, such as visiting the Republic of Ireland. No amount of Prime Ministers/ Presidents would have been able to have half the effect it did when the Queen went to over.

Politicians like Barak Obama, David Cameron, Angela Merkel, François Hollande, they all have influence when in office, but are they remembered?  Only a handful on Prime Ministers are remembered such as Winston Churchill, Margeret Thatcher, Tony Blair.

Churchill is only really remember because of WII, Thatcher is remembered for the decisions she made throughout the '80s, and Tony Blair will be remembered for taking us into Afghanistan, and the first Labour leader to be elected in office for three consecutive terms.

None of these people will be remembered too well within a hundred years. Unlike the Queen, not only has she been on the throne for 60 years now, but made an historical visits.

America, a republican, proud country, who love our Monarchy! They don't have history to be proud of, a few presidents here and there have made the headlines, and been remembered. JFK for his assassination, Abraham Lincoln abolishing slavery, George Washington first ever President George Bush Senior and Junior for being the first father and son to win the Presidential race.

I believe we, the British, live in the perfect democracy. We have a royal family, and we have a Prime Minister who we elect as the person and party to take care of our countries interests.

The Prime Minister, whether they be Labour, Conservative, Liberal Democrat (although looking less likely with every passing second), they have more power over what goes on in the country than the Queen could ever have. She gives them guidance, which we are lucky to have someone within our Democracy who has so much knowledge to pass on.

Not only does the Queen represent Britain, she also represents our past, our future (Charles, William, etc), and pride.

America's history is rather boring, they have nothing other than Independence Day, and Thanks Giving, to celebrate. Their history is rewritten every four to eight years, there's no longevity, nothing to claim to the world other than themselves.

Where as Britain has a past, we know where we've come from, we have periods for things, the Victorian ages, the Tudors, I guess we would be the Elizabethans.

I think we should be proud of our past, and our Royal Family. They bring in tourism, they take big political steps, they can guide our politicians, and give a country a symbol, a status, a meaning, and history.

So in my opinion I would rather have a Monarch than a President, at least we will never end up with a man like George W. Bush!
