Can wearing high heels really get you raped?

I'm sad to critise Caitlin Moran, as I am a massive fan. She's a feminist, but without being all Germaine Greer about it......... until now.

'Yes. It’s on that basis that I don’t wear high heels – other than I can’t walk in them – because when I’m lying in bed at night with my husband, I know there’s a woman coming who I could rape and murder, because I can hear her coming up the street in high heels, clack-clack -clack. And I can hear she’s on her own, I can hear what speed she’s coming at, I could plan where to stand to grab her or an ambush. And every time I hear her I think, “Fuck, you’re just alerting every fucking nutter to where you are now. And [that it’s a concern] that’s not right.

Society should be different. But while we’re waiting for society to change, there’s just certain things you have to do. But again the thing is, so many things you could do instead are predicated on having money. She could come out of a nightclub and get into a taxi, that would be the right thing to do.

No billionaire heiresses are ever abducted and raped and murdered, because they are just being put into a taxi or have their driver waiting around a corner for them. Again, it’s not just a feminist thing, it’s a class thing. It’s a money thing. It’s a problem of capitalist society. That’s why I think often feminism links to Marxism and socialism, I don’t just want to help one bunch of people, I want to help everyone.'

Firstly, wearing high heels does not get you raped. I'm sure she has a lot of girlfriends that wear high heels, and I'm pretty sure when she goes out with them she's thinking, 'Because you're wearing them heels you're putting me at a greater risk of being raped.'

No, I'm sure she doesn't. I like to think of myself as a feminist, and as one I believe women should be able to wear what they want to, including heels, and short skirts. If you've got it flaunt it!

Now I don't know about you, but I have heard of women who are extremely well off being raped, Why does she think money has got anything to do with a man wanting his way with a woman? What has class got anything to do with it? When did you last hear a rapist say in court 'I raped her because she is working class?' You don't becuase they don't care for your background, your heritage, your wealth.

In 1999 a young woman, daughter of a millionaire,  21 years old when she was raped, by a 26 year old Zoltan Espejel. Sadly she died two days later after having suffered a brain hemorrhage.

She came out of a night club in Brixton, believe it or not Caitlin but posh people go there too.

So you can't say the wealthy don't get raped, you can't say women in heels get raped, by the time the young girl left the club, she had probably removed her shoes and put some flats on, therefore no noise.

It isn't being Marxist, or Socialist, it is sadly one of the things in life that will never go away. There will always be that man, who may have had one too many stopped thinking logically, or man with mental issues, or some digusting bloke who wants something he can't get.

Wearing heels is feminism, don't tell us not to wear them just because you can't.
